A Bird’s Eye View
The Sri Sri Nrusinghnath Ayurved College & Research Institute (SSNAYC) is most ideally situated at Nrusinghnath, a sacred place of pilgrimage and a renowned center of natural and cultural heritage, nestled in the lap of the Gandhamardhan Hills.
The region is celebrated for its rich biodiversity, abundant flora and fauna, and scenic natural attractions such as Kapildhar, Chaldhar, Panchupandab, and Bhimdhar waterfalls. This eco-friendly and pollution-free environment, combined with its spiritual significance and tourist appeal, provides a serene and health-promoting atmosphere that aligns perfectly with the core principles of Ayurveda. Located approximately three kilometers away from the Paikmal main road, the institution presents an impressive and expansive presence amidst natural surroundings. The sprawling campus is spread over more than ten acres and is richly covered with medicinal plants, creating a living laboratory for Ayurvedic education and research.
The campus houses a well-organized indoor hospital and a dedicated outpatient department, ensuring continuous clinical exposure for students while delivering essential healthcare services to the surrounding population.
The college is equipped with modern academic and research infrastructure, including well-established laboratories with updated facilities to support teaching, research work, and drug analysis.
A newly constructed central library building serves as an academic resource center, housing a valuable collection of classical Ayurvedic texts, modern reference books, research journals, and rare publications. Adequate provisions have been made for effective teaching-learning processes, practical training, and skill development, supported by well-designed classrooms, demonstration areas, and departmental facilities. Separate and secure hostel accommodations are available for both male and female students, contributing to a disciplined and student-friendly residential environment. In addition to the medicinal plant resources within the campus, the institution has developed a unique and well-maintained herbal garden at Georgegarh, located approximately three kilometers from the main campus. Spread over ten acres of land, this garden conserves endangered, rare, and valuable species of medicinal plants. It serves as an important center for regular practical training, botanical identification, research activities, and pharmaceutical use, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and sustainable utilization of natural resources.
Since its inception, the college has been offering the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) programme in accordance with the syllabus prescribed by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and approved by Sambalpur University, Burla. At present, the institution has a student strength of approximately 250, all admitted through the state-level counseling process conducted by OJEE. The academic and administrative functions of the college are supported by a dedicated workforce of over 50 qualified teaching and non-teaching staff, comprising graduates and postgraduates, along with more than 50 paramedical personnel.
The institution has established fourteen teaching departments as per NCISM norms and is attached to a well-equipped 100-bedded Ayurvedic hospital. The hospital caters to the healthcare needs of the local population, pilgrims visiting the sacred Nrusinghnath area, and patients from neighboring states such as Chhattisgarh and other regions.
The hospital plays a crucial role in providing clinical training to students while delivering affordable and effective Ayurvedic healthcare services. SSNAYC also houses a GMP-accredited Ayurvedic Pharmacy Unit attached to the Department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana. The pharmacy caters to the medicinal requirements of both outpatient and inpatient departments and currently manufactures 81 Ayurvedic formulations using both classical and proprietary methods, thereby supporting clinical practice, teaching, and research. The institution is particularly recognized for its specialized therapeutic services. Panchakarma therapies offered at the hospital have attracted a large number of patients seeking detoxification and holistic management of chronic conditions.
Over the years, the college hospital has earned a strong reputation for the treatment of paralysis and various neuromusculoskeletal disorders. Additionally, Kshara Sutra therapy for anorectal diseases and structured Yoga therapy programs form integral components of patient care, reflecting the comprehensive and integrative approach of Ayurveda practiced at the institution. Overall, the campus of Sri Sri Nrusinghnath Ayurved College & Research Institute stands as a living embodiment of Ayurvedic ideals, where education, healthcare, research, and nature coexist in balanced harmony. The thoughtfully planned infrastructure, ecological richness, and academic strength together create an enabling environment that supports holistic education, quality clinical service, and the sustained growth of Ayurveda as a scientifically grounded and socially relevant system of medicine.
